The endowment has taken a 22 percent hit, giving will decline, the school announced more generous aid policies before the big crash, and you are talking about scholarships?
That borders on juvenile. There will be no money for scholarships, nor should there be. Not to mention a quick look at what scholarships have done for basketball. What, exactly?
The only thing that could change is if alumni banded together to endow scholarships, either entirely or just the difference between need-based aid and athletic aid.

How many extra millions will it cost the university if they current spend 'x' on need-based aid and would not spend a dime more by converting 'x' to scholarships? I'll wait while you break out your calculators, Lex and Bertha!

First up, let's have Lex's kid over here. The kid who's father has told us directly that his kid is not on a football scholarship and unfortunately has shown us indirectly that he's clearly not on an academic one either.
