As much as i hate Lafayette, I did have respect for their great players over the years. Romans was one of the young men that I thought had a chance at the next level. What I saw him do on Saturday to a player on one knee was pathetic. Had he paralyzed the Lehigh player, it may have eased the pain of his loss to Lehigh. I guess he was unsuccessful in what he was trying to do. What a way to go out, what a complerte and utter moron.

Alright, I think we can all agree that what Romans did was wrong, but lets step back and realize that we have all made poor decisions when our emotions run high and have all done things that we have instantly regretted. While my intent it not to make excuses for Romans or to stick up for him, I have to imagine that this was the case in this particular instance.

On another note, Clark needs to take the snap and immediately take a knee. There is no need to drop back or dance around. Again, I am not making an excuse for Romans, but Clark could have avoided the problem by going directly to the ground as you are supposed to do.

It was a 4th down, so the clock would have stopped on the turnover on downs. Clark made the correct play in running out the clock entirely and was not doing anything to taunt Lafayette by doing so. The late hit was stupid and low-class, but these things happen in The Rivalry and will hopefully serve to further inspire Lehigh to many more victories over that school in Easton in the years to come.

Incidentally, while Diamond was deserving of DPOTY consideration, I think my vote would have to go to Matt Cohen. He led the league in TFL, sacks, and INT's. Sounds like the best defensive player in the league to me...

You are forgetting that moments before, he was seen by the refs twisting McGowan's ankle. Two Lehigh players pulled Romans off McGowan when they saw it. You can see it on film.

Jermaine Pugh just called me from jail. He too thinks Andy made a poor decision.

First of all, Romans was one of at least three players trying to tackle Clark as he back pedaled instead of taking a knee, which is what they're suppposed to do. Andy did not tackle Clark.

A few years ago at Lafayette, the classy Lehigh players, pregame, formed on the LC logo, jumped up and down and chanted "our house." They lost. Every Lafayette fan in the stands thought that Clark was heading for the logo. Of course, the first thing the Lehigh players did after their win Saturday was jump up and down on the logo. Just watch the replay. Coen to his credit is seen gesturing to clear them from the logo.

Also, as Kennedy was returning the interception, at least one Lehigh player stopped to taunt the Lafayette sideline. Classy stuff.

On the Kennedy return it was Lafayette that got an unsportsmanlike penalty.

yes, maven, the player doing the taunting in front of the LC bench (as Kennedy is returning the INT) was leveled.

Ah sounds like a draw where the second guy gets caught. What do you think about Randolph coming back for a fifth year?

I don't know why Lehigh people bother with the LC crowd. Lehigh gets nothing from the association with LC other than the football rivalry which is there for historical reasons.
Away from that, Lehigh is more renowned, has a bigger footprint, is much harder to get into, etc etc.
Why waste your time?
