Try an announced attendance of over 1,700... for a Saturday evening's women's basketball game at Stabler.

Methinks this recession/depression is making folks re-evaluate their entertainment options... and Kirby and Stabler are coming up as good options?

it was a legit 3,100. only the corners up top behind the benches weren't full. it was a great crowd and more importantly, a loud crowd once their team woke up.

laughayette led the pl in football attendance and consistently gets 2000-2500 for a bad team. what are we doing wrong

LC led in attendance because the annual LU-LC game was home for them...pumping up their year' total attendance.

Yes but we averaged 8,183 for our 4 other home games

Georgetown- 10,134
Penn- 7,500
Harvard-7,700
Holy Cross-7,400

Lehigh averaged 7,542 last year for their home games. I know other factors/excuses will be presented, but even with the game we still averaged more fans per game.

Curious that three of the four LC attendance figures just happened to come out exactly as a multiple of a hundred. Chance of that happening randomly is one in a million. Could it be that these were made-up figures - like the LU basketball attendances?

They may be rounded to the nearest 100, but I was at the games and their were some very nice crowds at all the games and those figures are accurate. Lafayete does have a turnstile at all the gates so they do have a way of keeping the figures accurate.

why "round" the attendances if there is a turnstile that gives exact figures?

They were only rounded in that article for some reason. Official attendance for Penn is $7,561

7,789 for Harvard

And 7,439 for HC

Those are the official numbers per the box scores.

Bottom line is that Lafayette is on a roll right now with their new stadium/scoreboard/locker rooms etc. and have finally caught up with Lehigh in terms of facilities.

In the end they have an advantage of the on campus facility versus Lehigh's over the Mountain facilities in terms of student convenience.

Couple that with Lehigh's terrible bus system and Lafayette has a decided advantage in terms of the college football experience.

I think you're overstating the "advantage" from being directly on-campus. It MAY only be an advantage for students, not anyone else. When I was at Lehigh in the early 90's, there was never any issue with having to go over the mountain to the stadium. In fact, I think students like it because you were getting away from campus for a few hours and Lehigh's stadium set-up has a "big-time" feel to it. If anything is affecting Lehigh's student attendance it is 1)Team hasn't performed well in recent years including multiple losses to LC and 2) Administration has sharply curtailed student tailgating.

LUHawker is absolutely right. Lehigh was averaging close to 12,000 a game in the late 90's early 00's. Sure the team was on a phenomenal run, but the harrassment of the students by the administration has had a marked impact on student interest in attendance. Students have complained about having to give breathalyzers in order to use the bus service. The atmosphere on the Goodman campus is incomparable, when the weather cooperates. Plenty of parking and areas to spread out with the tailgates. Activities for the youngsters and the stadium is still more comfortable than than any other. Plenty of room in the restrooms (and they're heated!), concessions are plentiful and easily accessible, and the scenery is second to none. Yes the scoreboard is 'out of date' but I expect that will be upgraded in near future and not a big deal anyway.
If you look up the attendance averages when we played at Taylor, it was no different than now--averaging between 7500-10,000 on most years.
