] Date Posted: 14:06:22 02/20/07 Tue From the Valdosta Post ... Ever since she was a little girl, Jameka Brown loved to play field hockey and cheer. Although it was always a conflict, she always found a way to do both. But finally she had to make a decision. "I was recruited by South Carolina to play field hockey and Lafayette College to cheer. It was a tough decison," she explained, "but this was the first year that Lafayette offered scholarships so it made it a little easier. Since they only have one scholarship for cheer, I'm a little nervous." Jameka made her decision following her visit to the small Liberal Arts school in Easton, PA in late January. "I loved the campus and the girls on the team were really nice, I told coach Clarissa of my decision at a competition in Orlando a few weeks after the visit", she continued. Jameka's father James is a Major and is stationed at nearby Moody AFB. Her mother Isabelle works for WWET 91.7fm [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 15:36:40 02/20/07 Tue Oh, you son-of-a-gun, you got me!! Very funny! I wish she were coming here for field hockey instead of SC for cheer. Scholarship!--must be the tumbler we've been looking for all these years. Welcome aboard, Jameka! Bring your stick just in case... |

Date Posted: 17:25:44 02/20/07 Tue Brian Hunter, a 6-1 guard who averages an area-best 22 points per game, had wanted to stay close to home and was heavily recruited by Lehigh's Patriot League rival Lafayette as well as Division III DeSales. Hunter will be considered a recruited walk-on at Lehigh. "Brian also had scholarship offers from Division II schools," Emmaus coach Andy Stephens said. "But he really aspired to play Division I basketball and wanted to stay close to home." *This kid played at the same school as Aaron Gray of Pitt but obviously of not quite that level of fame. Anyway, while I'm sure he's a good player, he looked good on TV, we've seen too many guys over the years whose other choices included D2 and even D3 schools. |

Date Posted: 20:22:47 02/20/07 Tue We couldn't spend the scholarship money on another guard and we did not have full need slots to give... Lehigh did apparently. We need post players plain and simple. |
