Date Posted: Mon, October 06 2008, 14:00:20 In reply to: sunny 's message, "gavdos" on Sun, October 05 2008, 18:00:14 Gavdos is very nude island. There are 3 nice beaches with places to camp. First is Sarakiniko, nude beach and with facilities around, like supermarket, tavernas etc. You 'll find a place to camp. Second is Agios Ioannis. From the taverna-mini market the road ends. From that point beware that there are not facilities at all! You take off your clothes and that's it. First walk at the beach and take a first look. 100-200 meters from the taverna a cedar forest begins and continues behind the main beach. So you have a lot of space to camp. From inside my tent I saw the sunset! The stars at night were amazing but I did't prefer this beach during daytime in August. So I continued walking (nude of course) to the third choice-next beach. Directions are: From the main beach of Agios Ioannis go left as you face the sea. You'll find some interesting coves to swim and finally you'll arrive to another main beach called Lavrakas, more quiet with water, (ask where the water is). You can camp there too. Be careful that when you come back from the taverna at night its very difficult to find your tent, so you have to remember the way somehow. At night everything is different, I couldn't find my tent in the cedar forest the 2nd day, I was walking for about half an hour around:-)! Almost everybody from the taverna to the third beach is nude. If you continue walking further than Lavrakas you'll find some other small beaches and another big one called Potamos. And go to Tripiti and sit to the chair, its the southern point of Europe. so for some minutes you'll be the southern nude citizen of Europe! To go there if you walk a lot its OK, but if not ask how to get there with a little boat. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
