I am looking for any records I can find concerning my g-g-grandmother Mary Craft who shot and killed her husband W.N. Craft somewhere close to Foyil. As near as I can pinpoint this occurred in the winter of 1907. I found one mention in an old Almanac that could make it December 6 1907, but want verify this.
Family story is that she was put on trial and my g-grandfather, Phillip Wornell (who was married to her daughter Daisy Viora) spent a great deal fo time and money defending her.
Have you tried contacting the local newspaper in Foyil? Or you might try looking through the microfiche files at the public library in Claremore. I have found numerous articles that way.
Well I made a trip to the court house in Calremore Oklahoma and got very lucky. I was able to get the complete trial transcript for Mary E Craft, Case #1, Rogers county, Oklahoma.
She shot her husband because he was beating one of the children and was eventually acquitted.
