I ran across this info in the Rogers County History book in the Fry (index number 200) family section. "Mr. & Mrs. Joseph L. Gibbs were the owners of the first hotel, the Pacific, in Claremore, which was located at the corner of Second Street and Wichita Avenue. Mrs. Gibbs' parents died on the Oregon Trail in 1845. She and her brother and sisters were sent back to Ohio in one of the wagons of the wagon train that had been outfitted by her father, Dr. Scott. She was reared by her grandparents, the Archibold Scotts, in Belfontain, Ohio." "Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Fry were married in the Gibbs' log cabin home by a visiting Presbyterian Missionary." I have also seen at least one other mention of a Gibbs Hotel and I think a livery stable. WHEN I run across them again, I'll let ya know!
