Dan- I posted a msg for you here on Dec 5 but am not sure you received it. Your Dad was in my Radio Crew on EURYALE when he was taken ill as we returned from the Admiralty Islands. He had a Tropical Eye Infection, I believe caused by a fungus in the water where we swam at Seeadler Harbor. In Australia, he was transferred from the ship to a hospital in Hollywood near Perth (Aust) and we later heard that he had been further transfered to the Tropical Disease hospital in Klamath Falls. All this is based on reports we "heard" as we didn't see your Dad after he left EURYALE. He was like all of us, too young to really appreciate what we were going through. He and I had more than a few cups of coffee in the Radio Shack during those long Midnight to 7 AM watches. Always smiling and quick to laugh. Very sorry to hear he died so young.
Go to the "Epic of the EURYALE" on the Website and you'll see most of his buddies.
