Most dog worm infestations are caused by pinworms, not tapeworms. Pinworms are white and approx. 1/2 a centimeter in length. I don't think Petco or Petsmart sells meds for those type of worms. You should take your dog to the vet ASAP b/c your dog is suffering... those little buggers are very painful and itch like crazy!!!! Also, both you and your husband should see a doctor if you think you have been exposed to them. These worms lay eggs, which are very contagious. You could get them from your dog, especially if you were sleeping in the same bed where the worms were found. Wash any bedding and clothing that might have come in contact with your dog. Wash your hands frequently after touching your dog and DON'T put your hands in or around your mouth. The meds shouldn't be very expensive from your doctor. Your medical insurance company should cover the cost??? Hope this helps. It is small and white and moving around. I scooped it up in a bag and am going to take it to the vet with me on monday. Sounds like pinworms according to the above post! I have to admit i am kinda wigged out.

I actually just took my puppy last night to a 24 hour pet clinic, he wasnt eating and was acting funny....he ended up right when we got there he threw jup and the tape worm was like 10 inches long it was so gross, but anyways, yes unfortunately, it happens. they gave him 2 shots and some perscripts
