Well, the whole thing is different now. Maybe because there ARE no real super-star bands anymore. Or because there are now a lot of FEMALE stars on that turf. Or because it is now too hard to meet really famous bands. Or because the focus is not really on music anymore, but all media.

Guys like the Rolling Stones, who were out and about in the clubs and pubs in their young days and actually lived in London, were not at all difficult to get an introduction to or hang out with from what I have heard from those who were there. I think the touring is what caused the difficulties about meeting them. And that kind of security now surrounds really famous bands all the time, not just on tour these days.

Having said that, statistics are very high for guys in bands marrying a fan or their fan club president, or a high school sweetheart. Believe it or not! A glamourous groupie was a very different and exotic proposition and went with the territory of fame. It was also more unusual for women to be around the music business at all because there weren't any bands with women fronting them, so it always caused interest. They had a few girl singers, but they weren't part of a rock band the way they are now.

Bands tended to pick models because they looked good being photographed together and the lifestyles were similar. Models had an easy time meeting them because they were always invited to parties and knew what was going on. Models are still being "modelized" now but more by actors, sports stars or guys with titles and $$$.

But bad things happened to them too--I just read that actually Mick Jagger NEVER paid for Jerry Hall to fly to his concerts and was quite miserly. She paid for all that stuff herself. Not to mention all his affairs with other women and extra babies and the fact he didn't really legally marry her! I was just saying this type of movie is the kind of fantasized version which has now become a sort of fashion statement.
