I've come from a family with a chronic alcoholic. A person/family can only tolerate so many relapses. To start up a drug habit again after so many years and with a child on the way is inexcusable. I've seen people go on and off the bandwagon for years. There comes a point where the family needs declare they've had enough. You literally need to wash your hands of the person. Because of my experiences, I'm not one to coddle addicts or console them during their "illness." The medical community now considers addiction an obsessive compulsive disease. It's a slippery slope when you give addicts ANY sort of excuse for what they do.
