Hi, I'm about to undertake a similar upgrade with my Power Macintosh 6500. In my case, I plan to use the Sonnet Tempo SATA PCI card and a 60 GB SSD from OWC (Probably one of their 'Legacy' models.

I'm still waiting for the Tempo card, but I did notice that it does say it is compatible with the 5400 right on the original box if you decide to go that route. I'll update this thread when I get farther along.
