Hi John,
nice to meet you.

At the moment I installed OS9.0, not yet upgraded to OS 9.1. The problem I described it was there even when I had no HDD inside the machine. However, as you suggested I now zapped the pram keeping the buttons pressed, and released them after 6 reboots with "gong" sound. Still the same.
I even rebuilt the desktop but no joy, still the same.

I did try to power it down with the power button in the back of the computer. Till I keep the power button pressed, the machine seems to be off. As soon I release the power button, the machine starts.

I tried 3 different keyboards, stored in a box under my bed for years, but the problem was there even without keyboard connected. The power button on the keyboard works as should inside the OS, giving me the shutdown menu.

When troubleshooting the machine I also tried to remove the video card from the PCI slot, and it misbehaves even without any PCI card installed. Of course without the video card installed I can't see anything as I don't have anymore an apple monitor with the 15pin connector, but the problem of the auto-powerup is still here.

I hope this little troubleshooting can help you in troubleshooting this problem :)

Thank you very much John!
Chicco
