Mary would love to hear from any of the student midwives who trained under Doreen Slade, in 1964-1965. She also had her three children at the Hospital in 1967, 1971 and 1972.

It was a wonderful maternity unit, well run and managed by the Matron, Miss Doreen Slade. A wonderful lady and a brilliant midwife and tutor of the students. She will be remembered by many nurses with great affection.

I accompanied her to the final service in the chapel before the Hospital was closed for ever.
