Hey Jeremy, so sorry. I divorced my gay husband and we're "friends" - sort of, NOW. I think we tried to force that at first when there was too much anger and hurt, but now its easier and its basically email. You're going to have to give yourself time on the friends thing. It also may completely change.

I know you hate hearing this, but you haven't been married for that long. That's the GOOD NEWS! The fact that you built "countless futures aroudn this woman" -- I enjoyed that phrase by the way, sehr romantische -- unfortunately you have to deal with reality now.

Try not to be alone too much. Force yourself to go to a gym or do something physical - that will help the depression. I can tell you first hand that diving into LAKE SCHMIRNOFF does NOT help at all and, of course, makes it much, much worse. Let yourself be sad. Take off work if you can. Rent stupid movies that have nothing to do with anythign, like Andromeda Strain or Clash of the Titans or Akeela and the Bee or anything about Hitler. Buy stupid magazines, like time and newsweek :-) visit your local comic book store and get into graphic novels. Go get a massage. Ride a bike. Anything. But also remember its okay to just be in a puddle and cry.

You didn't do anything wrong, you didn't cause this, and truly you are lucky this didn't happen 20 years later with children and a ton of community property. But it still hurts.

Hang in there - you also should joint the str8ts list - people can email each other constantly -- really helps as we've all been there.
