I'm so sorry for the circumstances that brought you to this forum. Thankfully, you love yourself enough to find what you need.

To answer your last question first, yes, you can trust and love again. It's a choice.

I don't know if you're aware of it or not, but Canada is light years ahead of the US in terms of the rights of a str8 spouse when it comes to divorce and a gay spouse. A str8 spouse from Canada fought the system to the highest level and prevailed. Divorce as a result of a gay/adulterous spouse is recognized as a valid cause in Canada.

I'm sorry he risked your life. I'm sorry he's a liar.
I'm sorry for the pain he has caused (will cause, sadly) you and your children. It is all a survivable circumstance.

Protect yourself in every way possible.
