You are under no obligation to be anything to him; you don't have to be supportive, you don't have to understand, (who could? none of us are closeted married gays)

You did the best you could under the circumstances.
Go. Live you life the best way you can and look back at this experience less and less. Remember, it's quite possible this potentially risked your life.
