My exgay in denial husband and the supposed "best" counselors we saw for ten years kept protecting his interests and ignored my own. He was smooth and smart, playing on my trust and loyalty. All the while he was lying and cheating in all circumstances and gas lighting me and these supposed experts. I lost the best career changes I could have made trying to be understanding to a man who only thought of himself and his sexual pawns. I put all my time and work efforts to care for him and our sons, one of whom is disabled. I was all about the family; he was and is all about himself. Trust your gut and take care of yourself legally. I'm living a less than satisfactory retirement because I wasn't aggressive enough to fight for what I sacrificed over 24 years to help this narcissist who I FINALLY had to see is toxic and just used my best years to keep his cover. Hard lesson to learn--so hard.
