Subject: I was shocked that Virginia made it. Good for her though; it's not 'cheating' to be the only one on the ball enough to make use of a resource they all had access to...>>>>>

I wonder if the game plan was to give Kevin enough rope to hang himself: his boorish tendencies were simply highlighted last night but have been in abundant evidence all along. Good riddance: it would behoove him to take this as a learning experience to develop a level of maturity and professionalism consistent with his cooking talents.

If Virginia got the recipie from the book then more power to her for making use of the tools available to ALL of the contenstants. Rule #1 of reality shows ought to be doing your homework. If you are going to be on the show of a published chef then read his book! If V managed to memorize that dish of all those in the book well enough to to execute it then good for her!

Heather was clearly familiar with GR's book, she just did not remember that recipie, if she had then I'm sure she would have utilized her knowledge as would anyone. Virginia did make a good case for learning as she went along; whomever gets the restaurant will surely have a steep learning curve so abilty to learn must be equally important to coming in with the superior cooking skills Heather clearly has. This contest is not about what they came in with but what they take out.

[> [> **Clarification** I don't think using the book would have been cheating, but she denied that was how she got the recipe figured out, so I was just wondering if folks thought she had figured it out by palate, as she said, or if Heather's suspicion was correct. Yes, if one was going to try out for this show, it would be a good idea to get your hands on as many of Gordon's books as possible and do a lot of cooking beforehand!! -- LadyPeggyB, 09:06:48 08/09/06 Wed
