There was a male nurse in California who was denied a job in the maternity-gynecology department of a hospital because he was a male. He argued in court that the women would not mind because most of them, like you, had male doctors.
The hospital won the case saying and, I assume, proving that women who have male doctors often will not accept care from a male in any of the other professions.
I don't get it either, but that's what actually happened, so it does make a difference to some women.
