We must notice the fact that there was no women present except a few moms in junior schools and may be only at the enter of the gym, where you had to undress, but not where you had to pull down your brief or underwear for the hernia check. It could have been worse with female school staff or female teachers present. Since the boys of three schools were called together for the sport physicals in this gym, it would have been enough that only one school decided that it was without importance if women were present and send a few women as supervisors ( teachers or members of the staff) to make you being exposed to their view just in briefs ! you talked of the presence of male teachers, where they all only Pe teachers or male teachers of all matters to learn at school? you said also that any one walking past the area where the hernia check took place at the end of the gym could see you but was it frequent? I presume that most of the teachers and male staff from the three schools stayed rather at the entrance of the gym to supervise you during the time you were undressing and lined up than going at the end ? It is funny to think that they called the boys of three schools almost at the same time for these sports physicals which made the gym obviously crowded with boys and supervisors. But as you said, it was certainly considered by school authorities, coaches, medics persons and your dads as the best and efficient way to perform so much physicals of male students in a short time, a morning or at least not too much time. so " It wasn't that private. No one thought that any of us with our shorts down rated anything like privacy" Of course you are right but you seemed not to have been were not traumatized by that lack of privacy. It was a little inspired by military methods with a line of undressed boys going fron one station to an other but it was not uncommon at that time and you were not stark naked as it could have been in military draft physicals. it could have been worse ! No high school boys were there for that. The high school sports physicals were on a different Saturday before school started. I don't think that any junior high kids were present for the high school exams unless they had a good reason for missing their junior high sports physical day. I don't remember any much younger kids present when I had my physicals in high school. There were not enough coaches to supervise the exams so the schools had to use other male teachers. The coaches and teachers were throughout the gym and at least one was at each exam station. They didn't just stand around at the doors to the gym. That was mostly where the dads stood if they were in the gym at all. I remember walking into the gym each time where a coach would always tell us to pick a spot along the wall and strip to our underwear. Another coach or teacher would then walk along the walls telling the boys which line to get in and making sure that we had our physical exam card to present at each station. Our dad was military and we grew up in schools near the bases where he was stationed so there were a lot of military kids like us in our schools. Many dads during that time were in the military or retired military. I assume that many of the coaches and teachers were too. No one was concerned about privacy for males during a group physical and there wasn't any reason to think that it was necessary. I wasn't traumatized by any lack of privacy. I grew up with two brothers and for most of our childhood we shared a bedroom and a bathroom. Into junior high, we sometimes shared a shower at home if we were in a hurry. It certainly wasn't any different than being in a gang shower at school. As for standing in a line of boys in our briefs only for a sports physical, it didn't bother me and probably not most of the boys. We didn't like dropping our shorts for the hernia exam but that didn't have anything to do with showing our butts to the kids in that line or to whomever was walking by or standing there. All of us showed more that that in our locker rooms and gang showers. I don't know any kid, especially by high school, who didn't worry about getting a boner during a hernia check. The idea of a doctor checking our balls was weird but we had no choice and there were always consequences for disobeying. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
