Why do some doctors make you stand on the footstep on the exam table to examine your testicles, when others perform it lying down ? Had both as a kid and both humliating.

The doctor my dad took me to as a teenager did it both ways. She would first have me lying on the table - completely nude and spread-eagle - and examine my testicles lying down. Then she would tell me to stand up and she would do it again. I guess they can feel different things in different positions.

I am an adult nurse practitioner and the textbook says you should do the testicle examination BOTH lying and standing. Most providers do a look while lying and th efull exam while standing. If you were to watch the Bates Tapes on Physical Assessment, some are available on line in snip-its, you would see the exam done lying and standing.

Our longtime Male family doctor retired and the practice was turned over to a young female. The previous Male doctor would only check the prostate,while I was laying down, and never check me for a hernia,testicle lump,or penis check.
Needless to say when I went in for my last physical I was a little nervous,not knowing what to expect. The physical was pretty much routine until the end when I was asked to stand up and drop my shorts. The young female was seated on a rolling chair and performed the exam while seated,which made me even more nervous and worried about getting an erection. After that procedure was done I was instructed to bend over the exam table a spread my legs,and a prostate exam was done. Much more time was spent on this part of the exam than any previous physical.

There are two Tonys here, I'm the other one. But my doctor when I was a kid did my testicular exam both ways, too. Lying naked on the table, legs spread, he would examine my testicles. Then he would tell me to stand up and he would sit on a stool and re-examine my testicles, taking longer this time, then give me a hernia exam, and end by examining my penis. Needless to say I always ended with an erection.

Too many perverted female examiners. They will do whatever necessary to stare at and fondle your balls as long as possible.
