Obviously getting a physical exam in a group is much more embarrassing. Contrary to what Matt might believe, an exam is a little bit different than showering with your team mates. Believe me, I've experienced both things.
When you're showering with a group of guys, you're busy washing yourselves and generally taking care of business. You might sneak a peak at the other guys, but generally everyone is busy.
A group exam is totally different. Generally, you're all in a line waiting to be examined. That leaves plenty of time to look around to watch the other guys receive their examination. In fact, usually everyone's attention is turned to the boy at the head of the line that is actively being examined. So if there are 50 boys in line, you've got 49 sets of eyes watching you if it's your turn to be examined. That's much more embarrassing than just taking a shower with your team mates.
