Billings, Montana - Bobby Brooks Kramer, a nationally renowned cowgirl who was one of the early women to ride rodeo broncs for prize money, died on Wednesday at her home here. She was 91.

Her death was announced by the Dahl Funeral and Cremation Service.

In 2000 she was inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth.

She grew up on a ranch and was the daughter of the Prairie County sheriff. She spent her life in the wide open, when the ranch country was just beginning to be fenced, said her son Gary Crowder, who now raises and trains horses at the Kramer/Crowder ranch near Billings.

Last summer, the Western Heritage Center in Billings featured a photography exhibit titled "Bobby Brooks Kramer: A Montana Legend." She was also featured in two documentaries, "I'll Ride That Horse" and "The Last Stronghold."

In recent years, Kramer showed her American Quarter Horse Association gelding, Red. At 90 she won one of four high-point awards for riders 17 and older at the Billings Saddle Club, where she was a lifetime member.

Her husband, Corwin Kramer, who was also active in rodeos, died in 1979.
