A gunman killed a man during a church service Sunday, and more than 10 people were injured trying to flee the building, some apparently by leaping out windows, authorities said.

A suspect was taken into custody, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said.

The gunman apparently shot the victim from behind at St. Paul's Albanian Church in Rochester Hills, a Detroit suburb, he said.

Authorities found two handguns, and there were several shell casings on the ground. Authorities did not immediately release any information on the suspect or the victim.

Bouchard said most of the injuries appeared to happened as people tried to escape the building. Details weren't immediately released, however Bouchard said some people may have jumped through windows.

A person who answered the telephone at St. Paul's said the church had no immediate comment.
