Two sisters died in an automobile accident en route to make burial arrangements for their mother.

A third sister was injured in the accident but was expected to be released Saturday from a Tulsa hospital, a daughter said.

Sue W. Goode, 63, of Tulsa, and Beatrice "Bea" Lewis, 66, of Sapulpa, were killed in the Wednesday accident. They were passengers in a sport utility vehicle driven by their sister, Debra Stewart, 43, of Sand Springs.

The three had left a Sapulpa funeral home on their way to make burial arrangements at a cemetery in Sand Springs for their mother, Hazel Bell Liles, 82, who had died earlier Wednesday.

The SUV was struck by a pickup truck that failed to stop at a stop sign, Sapulpa Police Capt. Rick Rumsey said. Goode and Lewis were ejected from the SUV.

The pickup driver, whom police would not identify until an investigation is completed, was not injured seriously, Rumsey said.

Results of the investigation probably will be taken to the Creek County District Attorney's Office, Rumsey said.

Lewis had just completed 30 years as a nursing supervisor at the Sapulpa hospital, said her daughter, Chris Staples.

"It's been really hard" on the families, she said.

Liles' funeral was set for Saturday afternoon. Goode's funeral was planned for Monday and Lewis' for Tuesday.
