Charles E. Engleman, 92, editor and publisher of The Clinton Daily News for 63 years and a former member of the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, March 17 in Clinton.

Engleman became publisher of the Daily News in March 1940 and maintained his title of editor and publisher until his death. His day-to-day involvement with the newspaper, however, was limited for the last two years because of declining health

Engleman helped endow the Engleman/Livermore Professorship of Community Journalism at the University of Oklahoma. He was recognized in 1978 with the university's School of Journalism Benefactor Award, in 1982 with the Milt Phillips Award for Excellence in Newspaper Journalism, and in 1984 with the university's School of Journalism and Mass Communications Distinguished Alumni Award.

He served as president of the Oklahoma Press Association in 1957 and 1958 and was a member of its board for eight years.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, a son and six grandchildren.
