NEW YORK (AP) - Zvi Kolitz, a producer and author of a well-known short story about the Holocaust, ``Yosl Rakover Talks to God,'' died Sept. 29. He was 89.

Kolitz wrote the story, considered a classic of Holocaust literature, in 1946 for a Jewish newspaper in Buenos Aires. The story is set in the final days of the Warsaw Ghetto and revolves around a religious Jew who becomes angry with God during the Holocaust.

It was later translated into many languages, including Danish and Swedish, and has since become part of some Holocaust anthologies and Jewish prayer books.

Born in Lithuania, Kolitz emigrated to Palestine before 1948, the year Israel won its independence. There, he was arrested by the British for his role in recruiting for the Zionist Revisionist movement.

In 1954, Kolitz co-wrote and co-produced Israel's first-full motion picture, ``Hill 24 Doesn't Answer,'' while living in Israel in the early 1950s.
