Subject: desperately seraching song

i'm in depserate search of a song i heard one, maybe 10 years ago in the radio. it pops up in my mind every now and then and now it want to know from which band it is.

i would say it should be around the sleaze or glamrock time
-tenor voice of the leadsinger, quite raw and distorted
-the chorus is like "it was me", maybe "i guess it was me" or "because it was me"

i don't remember much more but the fact that it had a great bridge with powerful chords and a nice lead guitar.

i have absolutely no idea how i should find it.. please help!
