With the dethroning of Dzejla Glavovic, Carousel Productions chose First Runner-Up Winfred Omwakwe from Kenya as the new titleholder. However, it seems they have run into trouble yet again. It appears that Miss Yugoslavia-Earth 2002 and Second Runner-Up Sladjana Bozovic will assume the title of 'Miss Earth' until the October 2003 Pageant. Why they have resorted to her after announcing Winfred as the new Miss Earth is not made perfectly clear, as they claim it merely as a result of technical issues. Some rumors circulating around figure that Winfred's director may have not been met in her demand for about $50,000 prize money to Winfred to be able to wear the title, or that Winfred may have had other plans in her home base, Canada, that would not permit for the wearing of the title.
The beautiful, 5'9"-tall, 22 year-old Sladjana works in diplomacy. Her pageant career extends 2 years back, when she became First Runner-Up in the Miss Yugoslavia contest. She represented her country at the 2002 Miss Universe Pageant, going unplaced, and then went to Miss Earth as a hot favorite, finishing as 'Miss Earth-Water' (The Second Runner-Up). Now she can proudly wear the title of 'Miss Earth' for the newly-named nation of Serbia & Montenegro, presuming she agrees to do it.
