Hi Susan,
I just love homeschooling and I wish everyone could do it. I know that everyone has to decide for themselves what is best for each child and their family. What I hear you saying is that there are a few subjects that you are not comfortable with. Me too! One of them is Math also. I am getting increasingly uncomfortable beginning this year. We are doing 9th grade Algebra. I only got to Geometry, myself, so I don't feel that I am the best one to teach her after we get to Geometry next year. We want her to go on to things like Calculus and Math Analysis. Just the thought of it makes me cringe.
However, just because I don't feel comfortable teaching her this subject (possibly the higher sciences as well), doesn't mean I cannot continue to homeschool. There are coops in my area where math experts teach a group class every year. It is not that much money either. If your son is old enough, he can attend math classes at a local community college. Maybe get into a public school math class on independant study. These were things others told me when I asked. Possibly you could get a tutor.
Go check it out in your area and maybe there is a viable solution for you and your son.
