Here are a few suggestions:

1. Do school things that will make school kids jealous - bake for math one day a week. Teach him keyboarding at age 6. He'll feel smarter than those kids and enjoy it. Let him realize that homeschooling is a privilege. This WILL pass if you stand firm and let him know that you have prayed through this decision and are responsible to God to do what is best for him.

2. Plug into a local support group (check out this site for a local support group and tru tp find some field trips to go on. You haven't mentioned why you can't get together with other homeschoolers. There are usually tons of park days and field trips and craft days and independent classes, etc. Maybe find some sports teams (parks and recreation organizations arrange these) that he can get some socialization. Are you guys in a church that has activities for younger kids? You could also have him take lessons of some kind during day hours - another privilege that non-homeschooler's don't have.

3. You are already trying to work out the opportunity for folks to come to your house and visit. I would continue making that effort.

If YOU believe you are doing the right thing, he will eventually follow suit. I would certainly try and do lots of things that make school at home seem so much better. Perhaps your schooling style can be adjusted a tad more to a less traditional approach (if that is, indeed, what you are doing)to "hook him" on homeschooling.

These are just my suggestions, I am sure that lots of folks have better ideas!
