Hi. We went through the same thing with my daughter, 7. We pulled her out of kindergarten three months in. She was not emotionally ready to handle it. (She turned five three days after K began.)She has been raised with older kids- I have four younger siblings: sister, 17; brother, 15; brother, 13; and brother, 11. I am 27. She's used to being treated like a person.

She just wasn't able to handle "socialization."

What we did was made it very clear that we are the parents. We are responsible for making the best choices, based on the knowledge we have. School was not meant to be about "playing," it was meant to be for education. She's been very lucky to have made a friend in the past couple weeks. As we were suffering from the same situation.

Children grow so fast. We, as parents, focus too much on friends. Doesn't that come later? Youth should be about family and security. It's obvious that you love your son. Spend time with him. Not very many public-schooled kids get a lot of time with their parents.

While he may not see your love and wisdom now, he will certainly thank you for it later.

Warmly,

Michelle
