Susan - Whether to continue homeschooling or PS is not a right or wrong question that you can ask anyone other than God (if He has called you to homeschool) and your hubby.
If it's academics that you are worrying about, seek help within the homeschooling community. Most homeschooling organization help each other with tutoring withing the group by exchange teaching. Please check this route first. I would not recommend using the public school system in anyway. By allowing the PS system to enter in (become involved in) homeschooling you are only opening the door for the PS system to come in and apply their rules - - and they will if you allow them.
This is the advice I'll be giving myself in a few short years as my children reaches high school level.
Hang in there! You are doing what is best for your children. Public school only does what is best for the government.
