Felicia, Your son is at an age that he needs to take some time to seriously reflect on his situation and help you to help him. Men, at any age, want to be led by us women and then if it doesn't work out, blame us. I don't mean that in a derogatory note, but our priest that visits our homeschooling group even can verify that.
Tell him that he has an assignment. To make a list of his options. Write out questions that he has that he can't answer regarding each option. Homeschooling or sticking it out at school with sis. Shipping off sister to an undisclosed location is not an option.
He needs to write reasons he would want to stay at school and reasons why he doesn't. Same for homeschooling... reasons why he feels that it may be a good option and reasons that he might not like it.
I agree, boys benefit a great deal from homeschooling, I'm the mom of 3 (4 if you include Dad) myself. I'm not sure where you live, but there is an organization called T.O.R.C.H. ( www.catholic-homeschool.org ) Traditions Of Roman Catholic Homes. See if there is a TORCH group in your area and maybe you and son can visit when they have a First Friday function. And maybe you can chat with some other moms there to get a better insight on what to do.
Whatever your son and you decide... and he is at the age to be involved in this decision whether it's comfy for him or not, Prayer will guide you.
Prayers to you!
