I have a son who is 14 (9th gr) and is dyslexic. He has been homeschooled since he was in 1st grade. We used unit studies when he was younger, but have eventually gone to a more text book approach, mainly because of the time I have to spend helping him with his reading and spelling. I could use some suggestions for adaptations that I could use with his school work. For Example, this year he's using Abeka Geography. He listens to it on tape and I'd really like for him to answer the questions in each chapter. The problem is that it takes him about 2 hours to answer 6 questions on paper. So we tried letting him answer them by recording the answers. It's still VERY difficult for him to skim back through the chapter and find the answers. I feel like he'd learn more by answering them, but wish I could find a way to help him without ME actually having to sit down with him and help. I have 2 other children and need some time for them also. Plus, I have to read his science and health to him because we couldn't get them on tape. Has anyone homeschooled a child with LD through H. school? Any suggestions? e-mail me!
Lorrie
