We are brand new to homeschooling and I am about to begin unit studies with my daughter who spent her first half of the year in public school first grade. How do you get yourself organized when it comes to unit studies? How do you choose materials etc? I don't have any homeschooler catalogs etc, but have been searching out information on the web for the topic we are interested in. I have one field trip scheduled, and figure we can find books at the library. How do you figure out what materials to use though? Is this all trial and error? My daughters are 6 and 4, and my concern is that I will waste a lot of time figuring out what to use and what is above their level etc.

Thanks for any help!
