I find this interesting as I had a similar discussion with someone close to the University whom I trust and who I know has no axe to grind who said just the opposite, i.e., that Scott and his pal had done this a number of times before and it was known, they just hadn't gotten caught as no one had ever been in the room they happened to be burglarizing before. They apparently did it when they were short a few bucks or had over spent on a specific evening..Who knows which is the "real" story. I do have to think Coach Biddle probably knows what happened and if it's just a one game suspension maybe he feels it wasn't particularly serious..I agree with not throwing them out of school but Colgate football come off looking a bit self serving...

Oldtimer, if this is true that puts an entirely different slant on this situation. My source was a well-known and respected member of the Colgate community, though I suppose not beyond seeing things through the prism of what's best for Colgate football. What was said seemed credible, especially since it was consistent with what was reported today.

25 yrs ago the Colgate fb program was playing and scheduling big-time I-A schools, recruiting future NFLers, and had as fb captains future surgeons, lawyers, and presidents of the Packers. The program was getting fabulous publicity (Dave Anderson columns, feature stories in SI and the NYT, ABC-TV appearances, etc), but embarrassment over this publicity led the Colgate administration to dismantle the program.

Today Colgate is as academically stringent as ever, and less sh-t is tolerated on campus than ever. And today's Colgate administration is protecting 2 known serial burglars so that we can better compete with Fordham for the PL title? Can this possibly be true?

It was only one of the players that had a previous history of this type of action!
