Yes, you take their temp rectally. They can dehydrate rapidly with repeated diarrhea/vomiting. I keep both pedialyte and gatorade (powdered kind so I can make up what I need when I need it) on hand at all times, as well Nutrical. If they're not interested in drinking, you can freeze the pedialyte or gatorade in ice cube trays and offer them the ice (I think I have the one dog in the world that doesn't like ice).

When they are experiencing vomiting/diarrhea, it is best to withhold food for 24 hours, then offer boiled hamburger or chicken with WHITE rice or oatmeal for the next couple of days. You can also mix in yogurt (with live cultures)or some cottage cheese as well.

I worry about them not drinking more than not eating.
