I tried to take care of this on my own, but all I'm doing is hitting brick walls.
My neighbor broke up with his live-in girlfriend in November. She has a dog, that she had before she knew him. Her dog is 18 y/o & blind, deaf, has dementia & is very weak. She has refused to move out. She is almost never home. The dog lives in the kitchen on plastic & paper. Every night that this guy gets home from work there is piss & crap all over the kitchen & usually on the dog too. This is NOT his dog. She refuses to take his calls referring to the dog. This dog has NO quality of life. It is just existing. She has basically ABANDONED her dog. If this isn't NEGLECT, I don't know what it. It absolutely disgusts me. I believe that this dog should be put to sleep. It's the only humane thing to do at this point.
I called Animal Control today & they told me that they don't come to the house. I would have to bring the dog to them. I left messages for local Rescue organizations & I called Animal Control again & left a message. I fould out online that Animal Control officers go out to public & private places to investigate. How can I get one of them to go to my neighbors house? Once they see this dog, I'm sure they will take it & file charges against her.
I almost called her today to tell her that I will bring the dog to Animal Cruelty. Should I do that??? I can't just ignore this situation. I think the guy is hesitating putting the dog to sleep because she may say he did it to be spiteful because she wouldn't move out. He's in a tough spot. I can do it because I'm objective & just looking out for the best choice for this poor little dog.
Does anyone know anyone in Florida that can help me or hook me up to people who can help me?
Any ideas? Thanks.
Annette
