 This is fabulous news. I highly recommend that you take your baby and have him microchipped now. My personal microchip of choice is HomeAgain, once microchipped you can order ID cards directly from HomeAgain (one is wallet size and another is key ring size) and, once microchipped should he ever get out again and be injured, the dog is automatically insured for up to $3000 (I believe, don't quote me on that). Your vet should have the information you need or watch your local spay/neuter clinics, many times they will have vaccination/microchip clinics set up around your community.
