Get a link from BetterBuffyFic to the forum.

What is the big difference between the two sites? you can also view the BetterBuffyFic in thread mode.

Recommendations.
Sometime I recommend a story even if it not its remarkable. But perhaps only have a good (more or less) original
Idea behind the story. Should I only recommend stories that can measure up with the top of group?

Should a Fic only get recommended if gets three recommendations or more, because the member base has been expanded much, so it should in theory have become easier to get a rec through, than it was from the start.

In the same time I know there is a group of writer. That writes fanfic so well that ( Yathzee and others ), could and would get recommendations, for whatever they write, is there any point of recommend theirs stories, when they are on the prestigious and honourable recommended writers list?

Ratings is bad its first small step at self censorship, and all your explanations last time why ratings was ok, did touch a lot of good reason pro ratings. Can children in US buy pornography?

By the way. A person with an other view than mine in this is a fascist (I saw somewhere that isnt a fanfic discussion, before somebody calls another a fascist, and I would like a discussion).

Wow that is one of the most confusing posts, I have seen

Dear Lakrids,
It's so good to know someone is thinking about this board.
About your questions - the reason for this board, is that a lot of times on the list we tend to have discussions about subjects that aren't directly related to fics. And many other members on the list may not want their inboxes flooded with Off Topic messages, and may not want to go and sift through them at the group site either.
This board is for any other discussions and questions that don't need to be on the list. We hope it can build up into a community that will make our list members even more close to each other.
Also, when we open our archive, we will have visitors who aren't members of the list, and this is a place where they can communicate with us, without having to join - especially since the list is now closed to new members.
As for your recs - well, the group name is 'better', not 'best'! Feel free to rec something that you aren't really sure of - you can mention why you didn't really like it, and it may spark of an interesting discussion. Since only the best of the bookmarks find their way into the archive, it does now harm to have the not-absolutely-the-best-but-still-worth-a-gander type fics in our bookmarks.
Of course, if you wish to discuss a fic that isn't officially recced, feel free to post here, and direct the list to the thread on this board.
We are aware of yahtzee and other authors who are recced so constantly that it seems pointless to repeat ourselves - nonetheless, each new story deserves a mention. The mods will decide whether to put the recs in the bookmarks.
I'm not quite sure what you were trying to say about ratings, but I'll just try and explain why it's important why we need them.
Many people read their messages at work, and in their offices, it may be against the rules to veiw explicit content. Other people may simply wish to know in advance what they are in for, or wish to avoid a certain type of fic. Just as we want to help people prtect themselves from being spoiled, we would like to help them avoid a fic that they may find painful and upsetting. Specifying the rating is the best way of doing that.
Don't hesitate to ask me or any of the other mods if there is anything else you'd like to clarify!

Deepa D.

It's not like I have officilaness, I don't but I'd like to offer my opinions...

Like my post geared towards writers and archivers, its not related to rec'ing fic at all but allowed here, or the discussion on Tooth and Nail-it got a little to harried to be onlist. Or what Deepa D said. Because I only repeated with lack of clarification.

What's the top? I dug Destiny, some other people did too, while other people didn't. This is such a subjective topic, you should rec what you like and cool if other people agree and it makes the bookmarks but bully if they don't. You shared something you liked...I'm sure a lurker or two appreciate it even if it doesn't make the bookmarks.

My opinion...no. Because I'd warrant that somewhere between 70-80% of the list lurks and I would fear a somewhat cliquish bookmark list. Right now the diversity in the bookmark listing is really great. I've read stuff through this list I otherwise wouldn't have-there's a great big variety and the two person vote makes that possible.

Like Deepa D said...let us know when there's a new story out. I would have never read Yahtzee because of her B/A focus but I read Pheonix Burning because of this list and am glad I did-it was a great story. On the other hand I don't have her site bookmarked and don't read all her fics so it's nice to know when something interesting comes out. This could be said about Anna S' Season Noir-whenever someone recs the latest installment...those of us reading will know to drop whatever it is we're doing and check it out. At least that's what I do. *g*

Ratings have nothing to do with censorship. In the US, which is where YahooGroups is, knowingly allowing minors to read or partake in certain online activities can seriously get a site owner in trouble, at the very least have their account canceled. It's a protection and honestly is it actually hurting anyone? No. You can read fics G-NC17, therefor no censorship. However if you don't want to read G or Nc17 fics this will let you avoid them. And yes it is *highly* illegal for minors to be involved in pornography in the US. Writing is sorta' in the gray as far as pornography is considered but nevertheless. In the end it's just good manners.

I don't get the gist of this statement. I don't see how I would be a fascist for disagreeing with you or vice versus. That's like government dictatorship...since this list or board is kinda' come as you go...and not forced upon anyone....maybe I'm not understanding your statement?

The sentences came from a discussion in BBF. Who somehow went, to a discussion in culture relativism. Where one said something about, that if you dont acknowledge, that others can have another moral reference, than your self is you a Fascist.
Where to Yathzee replied that a fanfic discussion, is in not fanfic discussion. Before some one calling, others that doesnt, have theirs opinion fascist.
It was meant be a funny ironic statement. But I do have a weird sense of humor (if I have one).

Yep. It's illegal for minors to purchase and for merchants to sell sexually explicit materials to minors.
