Subject: Boerboel and Ridgeback cross?

Hi folks. I don't want to offend any purists out there, but I want to ask a question. I grew up in South Africa and have had both boerboels and Rhodesian Ridgebacks as pets. My wife and I are considering moving to east Africa, out in the boonies, and want a large protective dog, and I love the traits from both of these breeds. Has anyone had experience with a cross between them? Is there anyone actively breeding crosses or are they mostly "oopses" that get advertised in the paper. I am not interested in show-quality dogs, just something large and friendly, family oriented and loyal.
