You're missing the Azawakh (and sloughi), a western africa native(sahara desert, actually), got the same sleek sexy looks of the greyhound, the independance of the hound group (they can handle being alone in the house while you're at work), while also having slight guard dog instincts (wary of strangers but wouldnt attack unless provoked, same level of dog to dog aggression-wouldnt attack unless provoked). great with kids. as tall as a boerbal, but weigh about 55pounds (boerboals are 120-150). a little more hearty and gamey than the ridgeback. www.azawakh.com

although the poster said they liked the tosa-boerboel-mastiff "look" of dog. Neopolitan mastiff comes to mind, and Dogue de Bordeaux (www.florestafarm.com).
