Subject: Schutzhund and Personal Protection

I've done some reading on Boerboels, and I find them very intriguing. My question is how appropriate would they be for Schutzhund or Personal Protection. My Johnson American Bulldog's temperament is very well suited for Schutzhund. He has good judgement, is very controllable, and has good prey drive.
Would a Boerboel be too defense oriented? Has anyone out there tried it yet?
