Subject: Wobbler

Hello Miriam, Yes I have a female with that same problem. Did not appear until several months of age and she is now over 3. I know the parents, the siblings, and the pedigree. The problem seemed to advance to a certain point and then relax and maybe even reverse a little. She can now stretch out in a run and really cover ground. It seems that the problem added substantially to the strengh of the rear half of the body. Now, no other dogs from the bloodline or even close have ever exhibited the same problem, so I have always thought it was just my usual dumbass luck. I don't know all the symptoms and my vet did not recognize it as wobblers, but said it was undoubtedly spinal damage or problems. BUT, xrays showed the best hips I have yet to see on a boerboel,VIRTUALLY PERFECT, and NO SPINAL damage or problems. I am lost on this problem, but from my experience up to now, if I had it to do again, I think I would seriously consider an experimental breeding. I fully expect to get crucified for comments like that, but am willing to explain why I think that occasionally we must face the problems until we understand them rather than always run like hell. Just my thoughts, Regards, Ed Davis
