Endeavor aired in the U.S. just last night (Sunday, July 1). Of course it's a joy-tinged-with-sadness experience, but it is amazing how the character John Thaw created remains so strongly in our psyches. I laughed out loud when the young Endeavor said he didn't drink, was told to "Get that [pint] in you," took a sip, and then gave the beer that look Morse always did when he liked what he'd tasted. What a great moment by an actor, and it brought John Thaw completely back to life for me for a lovely instant.
