GIRLS!! You are so lucky! What a hoot it would be to be able to meet up with you both again and go along with you both. But sadly being where I am I can not just pop along to such things.

It sounds like the ‘Oxford Coincidence Phenomena’ has struck again – with you two ending up sitting next to each other by coincidence!

Also I would love to see Sheila performing again. The only time I saw Sheila Hancock perform live was in Liverpool in 2004 in the play The Anniversary. I loved it and Sheila played her character so well…that even tho the character was rather feisty and manipulative, I felt like standing up and cheering for her – surrounded as she was by some rather doltish family. You felt like you were on her side.

In fact I am starting to get more interested in seeing more that Sheila has done. Before John I didn’t know much about Sheila, but now I find myself looking out for her movies and series. I’ve just finished re-reading ‘The Two of Us’ - the first time since I read it in 2004 and that has whetted my appetite even more for Sheila’s work.

Sadly not many of Sheila’s more recent series were telecast here. But I loved Russian Bride which I saw here and I also liked Sheila’s character in Bedtime.

Also Sheila popped up quite unexpectedly as a Victorian mother in some Dickensian BBC drama shown here. The scene I saw her in was very short – but SO funny and even poignant in an unexpected sort of way as a Mother who didn’t want her son (or maybe the family name) to be insulted and rejected.

Has anyone seen Sheila in the movie Love Child? It’s one of my favourite movies and I love Sheila’s no-nonense working class character. Janet I know you know and love this movie!

Anyway I’m rambling again…ENJOY THE SHOW and I’m sure you’ll give us a good report of the event!!!
