The following quote is from "The Outlandish Companion (Vol #2)" by Diana Gabaldon "Part Seven 💮 Writing, And Other Games You Play By Yourself...One Word Speaks Volumes (Themes Of The Novels)" copyright © 2015 by Diana Gabaldon all rights reserved

Books don't write themselves, as anyone who's ever tried to write one can tell you. And if there is a secret to writing anything---fiction, nonfiction, TV scripts, greeting cards, poetry, or epitaphs---it's this: the only way to write is one word at a time. This is either reassuring or Absolutely Horrifying, depending on how you look at it, but it's the truth.

But, as anyone who writes books can also tell you, books do have a mind and a voice of their own. And a successful book is one that talks to the reader.

[> Writing is atm wrestling with your characters over where the story is going to go. Forcing a character to do something against their nature ends up sounding contrived and puts the reader off. I'm thinking in particular of the latest effort by Louise Penny with HRC. Including characters from Penney's own series didn't work. -- kgp, Fri, November 26 2021, 6:54:11

[> I heard Diana say she felt bad for George Martin because the show went ahead of his finished his books. And how hard that would be to deal with. It makes me think he’ll have to be wrestling his characters- or I wonder if he watched it or tried not to be influenced by it. Diana promised she wouldn’t let that happen, but if it takes another 7 years 🙄. But then my daughter said it’s probably written in that she has control over that. Went to see Belfast yesterday and it was great. I’ll admit here that I feel a little superior to the fans that only watch the show. We’ve known about this amazing series in intimate detail because we’ve been reading and rereading for many years. Now I’m feeling that way about Catriona. Her acting career really started with Outlander and it’s just blossoming and we knew about it first. -- Kathy in PA, Sat, November 27 2021, 3:11:52

This is a great book that can help you find a job. Everything is presented in an accessible and understandable form. I recently prepared a resume, and it turned out to be not as easy as it seemed at first glance. I used this service https://uk.careersbooster.com/ It made the task much easier, and I provided the employer with a decent resume.
