Subject: Betty Snider, Owner of Clay Haus, Somerset Ohio, dies

SNIDER Betty Marie Snider, 73, of Somerset, died Monday morning, September 8, 2003 at her residence. Betty was born March 30, 1930 in Licking County, the daughter of the late Irwin C. and Mabel A. Crawmer Priest. She was a graduate of The Ohio State University and was a Title One school teacher at Somerset Elementary. Betty was a volunteer docent at Dawes Arboretum and was a former council woman. She was co-founder and owner/operator of the Clay Haus Restaurant in Somerset. Surviving are 3 daughters, Brenda and Eric Riffle of Somerset, Carla and Richard Liss of Columbus, Michal and Alan Schultice of Thornville; 3 sons, Doug Snider of Junction City, Scott Snider of Somerset and Bret Snider of the home; 7 grandchildren, Greg and Chris Riffle, Jason Snider, Amanda and Michael Hill, Elizabeth Liss and Katlin Schultice; 1 sister, Mrs. George (Kathleen) Morgan of Newark. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband of 45 years Carl G. Snider, January 13, 1992, 2 brothers Kenneth and Earl Priest, a granddaughter Angela Snider, 1984 and a daughter-in-law Debra Snider, 2000. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at the BOPE-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, Somerset, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2003 with Pastor Brian Priest officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital, 700 Children's Drive, Columbus, Oh. 43205. Please join the family for a celebration of her life following the interment at the Clay Haus Restaurant in Somerset.

Betty Snider was a lovely soul who respected the spirits of Clay Haus. It is my belief she has passed on and joined them. May she rest in peace.
